About SLATI

SLATI (State Legislated Actions on Tobacco Issues) is an extensively researched and invaluable source of information on tobacco control laws and policy, and is the only publication of its kind in the area of tobacco control today.

We are proud to say that the SLATI report is currently in its 18th edition, and has been an exclusive publication of the American Lung Association since 1996. SLATI remains the only up-to-date guide to tobacco control laws in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Its evolution over the years has been marked by constant improvements in terms of content, range and analytical scope. SLATI includes information on state tobacco control laws and policy, covering issues such as:

·          The Individual State’s Smoking Restrictions in Public Places and Workplaces

·          Rate and History of Tobacco Excise Taxes

·          Laws Regarding Youth Access to Tobacco and Sales to Minors

·          Restrictions on Advertising & Distribution

·          Licensing Requirements

·          State Spending on Tobacco Prevention Programs

·          Tobacco Liability Laws

The latest edition covers tobacco control laws effective as of January 1, 2007, and is available in PDF format by clicking here. This website itself is an electronic version of SLATI, and the information about tobacco control laws and policy that you read online at this site is updated on a regular basis to reflect changes occurring throughout the year.
